Giving Back | Shark Weddings

With wedding season right around the corner, I’m hoping to do more than just take pictures this year.Shark-Wedding-Photography_0006

If you have followed me for any amount of time or or have bumped into me in person, it doesn’t take long for you to find out that despite living in a landlocked state, my passion for sharks and ocean conservation runs pretty deep. Why you ask? The short answer is Shark Week. Ever since I was 8 or 9, I would look forward to the TV spectacle every year and thus began my fascination (borderline obsession) with sharks.

You are probably wondering what in the world that has to do with anything. We get it, you like sharks. Well, for a while now I’ve been wondering how I can incorporate this desire to do more for sharks with my line of work. Crazy concept, I know. Sharks + Wedding Photography. Don’t really go together…UNTIL NOW?!

In an effort to bring my two passions together, I will be making a small donation in any of my wedding couple’s names if they incorporate sharks (in anyway, shape, or form) into their wedding day.

Someone have sharks on their socks? Is the bar serving Land Shark? Is there a shark prop in your photo booth? Yea? GREAT! As long as I get a picture of it during the course of your day, a donation will be made in your name to one of the following two organizations:Shark-Wedding-Photography_0003

Fin Free, a global organization addressing the mass slaughter of sharks caused by the high demand for shark products
Oceana, an international organization focused solely on our oceans and preserving them

As a little incentive, all the participating couples will be put into a drawing to win a free 8×8 album or future photo session. The winner will be chosen at the end of the year.

While there is absolutely no pressure on you to become as shark obsessed as this guy right here, I hope you’ll join me in my efforts to do more for our oceans and the sharks that inhabit them.
